The picture above is me along with a few teammates taking ice baths. I picked this picture as to show our addiction with running. Even though it was 40 degrees outside and we were freezing, we still took ice baths outside for the chance of it helping our legs recover. It was so cold that Coach Wolfe went and grabbed us some sweatshirts and blankets to stay warm as our hips down froze. Taking an ice bath after a hard workout speeds up your recovery process for your legs and makes you feel a million times better the next day. Since it was freezing out, Coach made ice baths optional. The fact that most of us still chose to take an ice bath shows our dedication to our training and our team. This all goes back to our crazy addiction and our goals of being the best runners we can be. It would of been easy to call it a day after our brutal interval workout but we didn’t. And believe me, we did want to call it quits and some of us even did. An interval workout is a lot like the iron maiden. The iron maiden is one of the most gruesome torture system that was used in the 1970’s. That is a lot like an interval workout because of what we put our body through as we give the workout everything we have. It was easy to just go to dinner or go to bed after practice. But as this picture shows, we chose to get better. We took ice baths and in result, our legs felt great the next day.
